Indoor flowers decorate the summer cottage
Passionate amateur gardeners always strive to make their site more beautiful and therefore are constantly in search of those flowers and ornamental shrubs that bloom for as long as possible, decorating the garden with bright and spectacular flowers.
In my garden there are a lot of different beautifully flowering summer plants and perennials, but recently I have begun to be attracted by somehome flowers
, which, getting into the garden for the summer, reveal their capabilities so brightly that I increase their assortment every year, although this is associated with some difficulties. Indeed, at the end of the summer season, they must be taken to a city apartment, occupying such scarce space on the windowsills (I mean numerous seedlings in the spring).
Pelargoniums (geraniums) were the first to appear in my garden, their ampelous and bush forms, with bright inflorescences, reliably settled in flower boxes on the lattices of an open veranda and in pots on the walls of the house. A little later, the first appeared, given to me,
who won my love for all the following years. Its original bells hanging on long pedicels with bent sepals appeared on the bush already in June, their number rapidly increased, and by August the bush was usually covered in buds and flowers.
And most importantly, the first September frosts did not destroy them. They survived these 2-3 nights safely, and then, even before late autumn, delighted us with bright and abundant flowering, unlike some of the annuals. Such, for example, as the beautiful zinnia, which is very afraid of spring frosts, and after the first autumn frosts completely died. And graceful and seemingly fragile fuchsia flowers staunchly swayed in the autumn wind, not fading even from frequent rains.
But everything comes to an end. With the onset of persistent cold weather, pots with fuchsias should be moved into the house, on cool windowsills, closer to the glass. In winter, fuchsias have a short dormant period, during which they partially shed their leaves. Watering at this time should be extremely moderate, and with the onset of early spring, they should be cut off annually. Cut cuttings can be rooted in water and grown in small pots. And by May it will be a good planting material for the garden. If you plant them at the dacha in a spacious pots with light fertile soil, then they will bloom luxuriantly, luxuriously, subject to abundant watering and regular feeding.
have flowers of various shapes and colors - pink, white-pink, red, purple-red, lilac. They are simple and terry. There are four varieties on my garden plot so far, I hope there will be much more of them. It is very easy to get carried away with her breeding, since this plant has great opportunities. Starting its cultivation from the cuttings, the bush can then be formed at your discretion. You can give fuchsia a bushy, pyramidal, standard and even ampelous (falling) shape. I often got an ampelous shape, since the abundance of flowers bent the branches and, closing the pot, they took a hanging shape.
I strongly advise other summer residents to start growing this amazing plant, which, I am sure, will decorate your garden for the whole summer.

Storing fuchsia in winter
Usually, before the onset of real cold weather, the plants are dug up, pre-cut to half. They are usually placed in a container, close to each other. Ensuring dormancy is reduced to reducing watering to 1 time per week and keeping plants at a temperature not exceeding 10 ° C so that fuchsia does not start growing. After the leaves fall off, fuchsia can be removed to a dark room with watering once a month.
My fuchsia spent the winter in an unheated bath in a container mixed with sand and earth in a tin bucket, covered with old wadded blankets. And she survived the winter! This speaks of good endurance, but still it is not worth risking once again, it is better to ensure constant temperature conditions.
Starting in March, we are bringing fuchsia back to life. To do this, cut off its shoots to 15 cm and transplant it into a new nutritious soil mixture, increasing watering.
Features of kolkvitsiya
Kolkvitsiya is a deciduous shrub that reaches a height of 2-3.5 meters. On the surface of young stems there is pubescence, consisting of short hairs, while the old shoots are covered with a brown-red bark, it exfoliates with plates, which is typical for all representatives of the honeysuckle family. If conditions are favorable for kolkvitsiya, then it develops a dense root growth. Opposite paired leaf plates of oval shape and deep green color in length can reach 3.5-8 centimeters. In autumn, the foliage turns yellow. Five-lobed graceful bell-shaped flowers have a light yellow color on the inner surface and pink on the outside. The unusually lush bloom lasts about half a month in spring and summer. There are so many flowers that it is impossible to see the foliage because of them. Bristly fruits are dry.
Fuchsia loves coolness and frequent spraying; in dry and hot air, it sheds buds and leaves. In winter, the temperature should not exceed 10 degrees, and then it will bloom early and abundantly.
The soil should be nutritious, loose, moisture-absorbing and contain peat, perlite and sphagnum moss. And of course there must be drainage in the pot.
It is very good to feed Fuchsia with liquid fertilizers, once a month in winter, in autumn, once every three weeks. And every week in the summer.
Fuchsia is a very light and moisture-loving plant. If the foliage is light, it is necessary to give it more light, up to the point of giving additional lighting with a phytolamp.
You can water every day in the summer, but the main thing is not to over-pour. It is also impossible to overdry the plant, otherwise the roots dry up and the plant dies. To preserve the look, cut off the cuttings and root them.
Fuchsia is capricious and demanding, but for this she will thank you with abundant flowering that will transform your home. Growing fuchsia will become a holiday for you!

Fuchsia awakening in spring
At the moment the flower wakes up, the temperature regime should not rise sharply. It is necessary to gradually increase the temperature of the flower, moving it to places with different temperature marks.
The room must be well lit, but the plant must not be directly affected by sunlight.
It is necessary to immediately inspect the roots, due to the fact that damage may have formed on them. If there is damage, the roots should be pruned, then soaked in water and stimulants, and the aerial part should be sprayed with water. By adding powdered magnesium sulfate to the spray mixture (according to the instructions), the grower will help the flower to awaken new buds. To speed up this process, the bush can be covered to provide a high level of moisture and prolong the effect of the magnesium sulfate.
