Zucchini is one of the most popular garden crops. It is unpretentious, versatile in use, has a delicate taste, high nutritional value. When selecting a variety for his six-hundredth farm, each gardener tries to choose a variety that, with a minimum of labor costs and planting areas, will give a good harvest, capable of providing not only fresh produce, but also material for harvesting for the winter. Many zealous owners, who know how to balance costs and profits, opted for the Dutch hybrid Cavili F1, which appeared at the beginning of the XXI century and today is one of the leaders in cultivation, not only in our country, but also abroad.

Zucchini Cavili F1: description and main characteristics of the hybrid

Zucchini Kavili F1 was included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements approved for use in the Russian Federation in 2002. It is recommended for growing in garden plots and in small farms in all regions of Russia.

The hybrid is versatile in use: it can be eaten fresh, ideal for canning, preparing first and second courses, popular squash caviar. It can be frozen and dried.

Kavili F1 is an ultra-early maturing, self-pollinated hybrid variety. The period from the emergence of seedlings to the technical maturity of the vegetable is about 40 days. It is a bushy, compact plant with small to medium sized leaves. They are dark green, strongly dissected, with whitish spots all over the leaf blade.

The Cavili F1 hybrid grows in the form of a bush and has a compact size, which is very appreciated by gardeners who have small areas for growing vegetables.

The fruit of the squash is cylindrical, medium length, whitish-greenish in color with diffuse spotting. The pulp is colored white or light green, it is characterized by uniformity, tenderness and juiciness. The length of technically mature fruits is about 20 cm, and the weight is just over 300 g.

The skin of young fruits of the Cavili F1 hybrid is thin, technically mature - more dense

More than 4.5 kg of vegetables can be harvested from one square meter during the fruiting period.

Cavili F1 hybrid marrow harvesting begins in late June or early July

Advantages and disadvantages of a hybrid

Cavili F1 retains its distinctive qualities only in the first generation and does not transmit them when sown from the seeds of the obtained crop

Growing zucchini Cavili F1

In general, this hybrid, like most pumpkin seeds, does not impose special requirements on the conditions of care and cultivation. First of all, he needs a standard set: good illumination and food. To increase the air permeability and nutritional value of the soil when preparing the site for planting marrow Kavili F1, it is necessary to fertilize the soil with high quality, to take measures to improve its structure:

  • it is recommended to add peat, sawdust or humus, wood ash and superphosphate to clay or loamy soils;
  • peat, compost, clay flour, complex mineral fertilizers, wood ash should be added to sandy soil;
  • peat soil will respond well to the introduction of organic matter, river sand, clay, phosphorus-potassium fertilizers.

A good effect is obtained by incorporating green manure into the soil. This procedure restores the structure of the soil and improves its condition.

When choosing a site for planting a hybrid, pay attention to two more rules that affect the success of growing Kavili F1 zucchini:

  • the place should be well lit and protected from winds;
  • be sure to observe the crop rotation, do not plant zucchini for several years in a row in the same place, do not allocate a plot for them after cucumbers, squash and other pumpkin crops. Good predecessors for the hybrid are cabbage, radishes, onions, carrots, herbs, potatoes, tomatoes, and winter rye.

Zucchini Kavili F1 feel comfortable in an open, well-lit area, where there is no stagnation of moisture and drafts

Cavili F1 can be planted both with seeds and seedlings. Seeds sprout quickly, no later than a week after sowing. And the harvest of technically mature fruits can be harvested 40-50 days after germination. Growing a hybrid in a seedling way will give an earlier harvest, since you can sow zucchini in April, they will spend the initial growing season in a comfortable home or in a warm greenhouse.

Planting strong seedlings in the ground will bring the harvesting period closer by about 2 weeks

Seeds are sown or seedlings are planted in open ground after the soil warms up to +12 degrees at a ten centimeter depth. The nuance of planting zucchini of this variety is to maintain a comfortable distance between the planted plants. The holes should be located at a distance of about 70 cm from each other in a row, the recommended row spacing is 1.3–1.5 m. With this planting scheme, squash bushes will be provided with sufficient space for nutrition and development.

Thickened planting will adversely affect fruit setting and hybrid yield.

When sowing with seeds in one hole, you can plant 2-3 seeds to a depth of about 5 cm, and after the emergence of seedlings, thin out and leave one of the strongest seedlings in the hole. Cavili F1 is considered a cold-resistant hybrid, but with early sowing, it is recommended to additionally protect the beds by covering them with spunbond or film from spring frosts.

Zucchini of this variety can be sown in several stages, at intervals of a week. Such sowing will provide you with young fruits until late autumn.

Growing zucchini Kavili F1 in a greenhouse and in warm beds

It is possible to grow a hybrid not only in the open field, but also in a protected one. This method has the following advantages:

  • plants will be reliably protected from recurrent spring frosts;
  • the crop of the hybrid will be not just early, but ultra-early;
  • yield indicators reached their maximum size.

Kavili F1 zucchini shows good indicators of productivity and growth when grown in warm beds. Such structures are especially relevant in regions with a cool climate. The meaning of a warm ridge is to lay organic waste and waste layer by layer into a wooden box with a height and width of about half a meter:

  • the lowest layer can consist of large waste: rotten boards, branches, cardboard. It will decompose for a long time and will act as a drainage layer;
  • there should be at least 2 layers of plant residues (cut grass, weeds, rotten vegetables, food waste, etc.), manure on the garden bed. About 10 cm of earth is poured on top of each layer;
  • the top layer of soil should be about 20 cm.

A warm bed can generate heat for 2-3 years

If such a bed is prepared in the fall, then the plant residues will begin to decompose, generate heat and provide the hybrid with comfortable growth conditions.

Zucchini care Kavili F1

Caring for zucchini of this variety is absolutely standard: it is necessary to remove weeds in a timely manner, periodically loosen the soil, feed the plants and regularly water the plantings. Particular attention should be paid to the procedure for loosening the soil. This must be done very carefully: the depth of loosening in the aisles should not exceed 15 cm, and under the bush - 5 cm. The plant has a superficial root system, deep loosening can damage it.

Some novice gardeners huddle zucchini, as their roots are sometimes bare. The procedure, carried out in the 4 and 5 leaf phases, really helps the plant to grow an additional root system. Zucchini reacts poorly to hilling, carried out at a later growing season. If during this period the roots are bare at the bush, then it is better to sprinkle them with fresh earth.

The hybrid is watered only with water heated in the sun. Watering is carried out at least once a week before the start of fruiting and twice as often after the appearance of the first fruits. Excessive moisture for zucchini is undesirable, it can cause the spread of fungal infections. Watering is carried out at the root, since the ingress of additional moisture on young ovaries can lead to their decay. The procedure is best done in the evening to avoid the risk of sunburn on the plant.

In a rainy summer, when there is an excess of moisture, you can put cut boards, pieces of slate, a film under the ripening fruits to prevent the growing zucchini from rotting

Experienced gardeners say that if you stop watering the plant about a week before harvesting, the harvested fruits will have a richer taste and aroma.

Compliance with the rules of agricultural technology is a reliable guarantee that the Kavili F1 zucchini will grow healthy and strong. Problems associated with diseases and pests can arise in the case of thickening of plantings, waterlogging of the soil, non-observance of the rules of crop rotation. When caring for a hybrid, it is important to systematically examine it and take effective measures at the first signs of damage.

Seed producers claim that the Kavili F1 squash is resistant to the main disease of the crop - powdery mildew.

Fertilizing a hybrid

Zucchini Cavili F1 responds well to feeding. The main thing is to carry them out correctly and not to overdo it with the introduction of nitrogen fertilizers, because the described hybrid is early ripening, therefore, the later application of nitrogen-containing fertilizers can provoke the accumulation of nitrates in the fruits. Zucchini grown in greenhouses is especially carefully fed. The fact is that in greenhouse conditions, the aboveground part of the zucchini will develop rapidly and actively, additional stimulation can lead to an increase in green mass to the detriment of the formation of ovaries.

If, during the preparation of the site, a sufficient amount of organic and mineral fertilizers was applied, then the early ripening hybrid Kavili F1 will have enough of them for normal growth and development.

The hybrid does not tolerate fertilization with fertilizers containing chlorine.

When growing Cavili F1, you should pay attention to the timely collection of fruits. A distinctive feature of this variety is resistance to overgrowth, that is, even fruits that have stood in the garden do not lose their excellent taste. But if the crop is harvested in a timely manner, then the ripe zucchini will not draw on the strength of the plant and it will lay new ovaries.

The collected fruits of the hybrid are perfectly stored in the refrigerator (up to 1 month) or in the cellar (up to 2 months). The main condition for long-term storage is cutting the fruit with a piece of the stalk and the absence of light.

The skin on young fruits of the Cavili F1 zucchini is very thin, so they cannot be stored for a long time.

Zucchini Kavili F1 can be attributed to varieties that, in a fair fight, have won a reputation for a delicious variety, ideal for preparing delicious dishes, characterized by simple agricultural technology, and a super early bountiful harvest. It was these qualities that allowed him to take one of the leading places in the squash popularity table and deserve the attention of gardeners.

  • Variety characteristics

    The Cavili hybrid is completely self-fertile, does not require pollination. The bush of the predominant female flowering type.

    Zucchini variety "Kavili F1" is distinguished by stable yields. The fruit sets well despite the weather. On one bush, from 4 to 7 zucchini will sing at the same time.

    Scope of the fruit

    The cultivar Kavili F1, loved by gardeners, is suitable for baby food or first complementary foods. Tender mashed potatoes, juices and pancakes are prepared from it.

    For adults, zucchini is indicated for dietary nutrition and for the improvement of the body. The variety is used in cooking, freezing and various types of processing.

    Disease and pest resistance

    "Kavili F1" is a new generation hybrid resistant to typical diseases, such as powdery mildew. The bush is rarely spoiled by pests.

    Judging by the reviews of gardeners, the "Kavili F1" zucchini in rare cases is affected by the following diseases:

    • anthracnose
    • peronosporiasis.

    Of the pests, the plant is bothered by the melon aphid, as well as the spider mite. A bush can get sick when the gardener does not follow the crop rotation, the planting scheme and does not properly care for Kavili. You can not plant zucchini of this variety after squash, cucumbers and pumpkins. Good predecessors for "Kavili F1" will be potatoes, onions, legumes, all types of cabbage.

    Anthracnose appears as pink spots on the fruits and leaves of the plant. As a result, the crop becomes unusable. To prevent disease, only the strongest seedlings are planted in the garden. For prophylaxis, the bushes are regularly sprayed with a 1% solution of Bordeaux liquid.

    You can suspect peronosporia by the characteristic white spots on the leaves of Cavili. Gradually, the disease affects the entire plant. The sheet plate dries and crumbles. For prophylactic purposes, marrow is treated with preparations of complex action "Oksikhom" or "Zaslon".

    If the zucchini is attacked by a spider mite, then punctures and white dots are noticeable on the leaves. A thin cobweb is visible on the reverse side. The tick itself is very difficult to see - its length is no more than 1 mm. Insecticides will help to get rid of the pest, which are sprayed repeatedly.

    The melon aphid is no less dangerous for the "Kavili F1" variety. The pest feeds on the plant's cell sap - as a result, the leaves curl, dry out, and the fruits fall off. To avoid the appearance of aphids will help regular spraying "Karbofos", as well as weeding of all weeds.

    Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

    The "Kavili F1" zucchini has many advantages:

    • high yield
    • stable fruiting
    • compact bush
    • good plant immunity
    • excellent taste of fruits
    • versatility of application.

    In addition, the crop can be kept fresh for about two months, which is not typical for many other varieties. It is enough to spread the zucchini in one layer in a cold cellar or wrap it in paper. Fresh fruits will stay in the refrigerator for no more than a month.

    Despite the many positive properties, the variety "Kavili F1" has a significant drawback - independent reproduction of squash is impossible. For further cultivation, you will have to purchase seeds in a specialized store every year, you cannot collect your own. The fact is that hybrid plants do not pass on their qualities to subsequent generations. From their own seeds will grow a variety of bushes, the yield of which is questionable.

    Reviews of the Kavili zucchini

    Planted Cavili and Parthenon. Kavili is very compact, early ripening, prolific, tasty. I planted both for 2 years and will plant this year. Stores in the winter did not work. For a family of 3 people with a bunch of unsuccessful relatives, 4 plants are enough, 2 of each variety.STILL GET TO THE NEIGHBORS.

    This year I am also with the general favorite - "Kavili". It's good that there are only three bushes, otherwise it would be just right to open a cannery. Very productive, trouble-free in agricultural technology, early, beautiful bush. But I have a question for filling: does it seem to me alone that it has a very mediocre taste?

    Almost every housewife has her own recipe for preparing zucchini. The Cavili variety is ideal for preparing any of them. Due to its high yield, this variety will feed the zucchini to their fill in the season, and will allow you to cook blanks for the whole winter.
