Let's just talk about how to grow tomatoes outdoors. Many gardeners-summer residents do not grow tomatoes, because they have no time to deal with greenhouses, and they do not trust cultivation in open ground.

While getting your own tomatoes is relatively easy without film covers, you need to be able to grow them on an accelerated cycle.

In May, we still cannot plant tomatoes in the beds due to night frosts. It is useless to try: we can say that there is no May without frost.

Frost protection techniques that save other plants do not work in the case of tomatoes: the tops are frostbitten and sag.

The roots and stems remain alive, but they will take too long to recover, so it is better to keep the seedlings in the apartment in May.

It is assumed that when planting seedlings, she will be two months old. Then, during the summer months, the fruits of plants of low varieties will have time to ripen.

It is good to plant several varieties at once. If you have little experience, then when choosing varieties, give preference to cold-resistant, undersized varieties and hybrids with medium-sized fruits, such as, for example, White filling, Moskvich, Nevsky, F1 Druzhok, etc.

Such tomatoes have ordinary medium-sized fruits, they easily ripen. It is convenient to fill your hand on such varieties.

But this does not mean that we will not then experiment with taller, large-fruited varieties.

There are varieties with very small fruits, the size of cherries. They are not for everybody.

Landing features. When planting bushes in holes in a garden bed (I remind you that the term "beds" means we have a plot for planting on level ground), do not deepen the root collar.

If you plant deeply, the stem will be very willing to release additional roots and then go into new growth. The time for setting the ovaries will be postponed.

Our plants do not need additional roots on the stems, the existing ones are enough for them. All kinds of reinforcement of tomato bushes are good in the south, where it is profitable to grow them on the longest cycle so that one bush grows as many fruits as possible.

In the south, you can plant deeper and obliquely, cut the stem for branching, etc. We have only two and a half warm months, when tomatoes grow well in the open air (the second half of August is already cold).

We need bushes that can set fruit quickly. Better to have more bushes, and they will be planted denser.

Of course, during planting, you need to carefully monitor the safety of the root. When taking out a clod of earth from the cups, do not break off the hooked roots. Let the whole lump lie on the loose earth in the hole so that all the roots can freely continue their growth.

When planting, the bushes must be immediately tied to a peg so that they are not swayed by the wind. Planted seedlings need to be watered with warm water once.

Then the water will soak a large amount of soil around each root and come off. The soil will be moist and airy at the same time. Bushes will quickly begin to root in fresh soil.

Note that tomato seedlings should be grown in the largest possible cups. If possible, of course.

Seedlings with large roots do not notice the transplant. Bushes with small roots take time to swing before they gain strength and can continue to grow.

When transporting seedlings, try to keep the foliage intact. If the bush has to restore the foliage again, the fruiting period will be postponed.

Tomato care. Further caring for tomatoes is extremely simple, it does not differ from caring for other vegetables.

Cutting weeds around tomato bushes is convenient, especially in June. When the bushes grow, then you can no longer touch the weeds until harvest.

Once again, it is not necessary to tie the growing shoots to the support. Зеленые плоды могут частично касаться земли, это не страшно.

If you decide to tie up the shoots, then do not seek to give them the maximum vertical position: the more the shoot with a bunch of fruits leans, the faster they will begin to ripen.

Do not remove young shoots from tomatoes, which are called stepchildren. It's a waste of time. Stealing, chasing ...

You do not need to shorten anything in the plant, it does nothing. A sober-minded person, of course, will find an objection: "All the same, the stepsons will not have time to mature!"

And it doesn't matter. Let what ripens, it will ripen. But the whole bush grows in a good mood, which will affect the harvest.

When to take the fruit off? At the end of July, tomato bushes are already bending from heavy bunches of green fruits. But it's too early to shoot them, as many of them are quite young.

The fruits can hang safely until mid-August. By this time they are still green, but they can already be removed.

It is possible to leave tomatoes on the street further, but it is not safe, they can begin to rot due to cold nights, and also be affected by late blight.

To prevent this from happening, it is safer to collect them in mid-August and leave them to blush in small boxes.

Taken in whole bunches, tomatoes keep better.

With the tomatoes removed, you can start preparing the soil in their place for next summer. The tops of tomatoes should be pulled out by the roots.

We do the same with the tops of all other plants during their final harvest. We pull it out of the ground, but do not carry it away, but leave it here.

This is done so that the small roots remaining in the soil are separated from the main node and begin to decompose earlier.

For the same reasons, we try to finally harvest the crop as early as possible. We shoot cucumbers, pumpkins, zucchini, tomatoes at the end of August.

The sooner the soil begins to rest, the better the plants will be on it for the next year.

September and October are warm months for soil microorganisms, during which time the soil recovers from root exudates.

In addition to its bright taste, the plant is widely popular in folk medicine. For medicinal purposes, not only the fruits are used, but also the stems. The infusion of brewed tops has an effective anti-inflammatory effect on the legs.

The daily use of freshly squeezed tomato juice strengthens the immune system, and also helps to cope with stomach diseases, normalizes metabolism.

In addition, tomato is considered an excellent cough suppressant. You just need to chop the vegetable, mix it with garlic and use it with meals.
