Heating costs are one of the most significant cost items for a homeowner. And it doesn't matter if we are talking about the owner of an apartment or a summer house. It is quite possible to reduce these costs and save the budget. Consider the options that can be successfully applied for these purposes in your country house.

Radiators and batteries

A heat-reflecting screen will help raise the temperature in the house by a few degrees: foil applied to a heat insulator. Place it behind heating radiators. Thanks to this, the heat goes to heating not the walls, but the premises. For such a screen, any aluminum foil on soft foam is used. Fix it with wallpaper glue or liquid nails. The recommended distance between the wall and the radiator is at least 3 centimeters. The ribs of the battery should never touch the foil! You can further increase the efficiency of the screen by placing it not close to the wall, but at a distance of several centimeters from it.

Slots

In the absence of effective thermal insulation, about 50% of the heat goes through the walls. You can reduce losses by eliminating gaps. To do this, you need to carefully examine the walls. Found problem areas are recommended to be sealed with polyurethane foam. It is a convenient and affordable material for independent use. It is usually used with a special gun. When working with foam, you need to take into account the temperature and humidity in the room or outdoors, depending on which side you are working on. The humidity should not be high and the temperature low. Foam is applied in one layer about five centimeters thick. No gaps should be allowed: the foam jet should lie flat on the place to be repaired.

Window

About 25 - 35% of the heat escapes through the windows. Therefore, it is worth replacing the old wooden frames with plastic double-glazed windows. If this cannot be done, then it is necessary to insulate the windows. So, it is recommended to fill the contact points of the glasses with silicone sealant. You need to insert rubber bands around the perimeter of the window. The gaps between the window and the frame should be insulated with foam rubber or sealed with special adhesive tape. You need to stick it with a tightly closed window, then the seal will reliably block all unnecessary holes. By the way, you can use a very simple method of insulation. All you need here is a plastic wrap, which is fixed with a furniture stapler along the perimeter of the window from the street side. It turns out a reliable barrier on the way of cold air. True, there are also disadvantages: it will not work to open the window to ventilate the room.

Air bag

Doors are another place for heat loss. In order to increase the temperature in the room, it is recommended to ensure that they fit snugly against the box. This can be achieved with the help of seals, which are used as polypropylene tapes, plastic, wooden or metal slats. You need to close all doors from the entrance! So less drafts penetrate inside, an air cushion is created and the room heats up faster. The vestibule solves the problem of heat loss at the entrance, especially if you place a radiator there. A heat curtain is created that does not let the cold into the room. An additional barrier can be made after the vestibule by hanging a thick curtain on the door from the side of the room. Only due to this can the temperature increase by 3-4 degrees. Simple but effective.

Attic

Precious heat can also be lost due to a cold roof. It will not be superfluous to insulate the attic by placing slabs of mineral wool or other insulation between the rafters. But even this will not save if the wind is blowing here. It is imperative to check the windows: whether they are damaged, whether the glass is intact, how tightly the sashes fit to the frame. All gaps and leaks must be eliminated. Thanks to this, the enclosed space of the attic will warm up and a buffer zone will appear, which will help keep the heat in the house as a whole.

Blitz-warming of a country house (video)

The real winter cold is approaching and many summer residents are conserving their summer homes, saying goodbye to them until spring. It is a pity to part with the special atmosphere of the country house, with its lovely coziness. It is a pity, but necessary ... Or not?

If there is even the slightest opportunity to visit your suburban area in the cold season, then you must definitely use it. And there are ways to provide yourself with a comfortable temperature at least for a short time. You can read about them in the publication How to warm up quickly and efficiently when you come to a cold dacha.

In addition to the methods of internal heating of rooms themselves, there are several tricks that will help you quickly and significantly reduce heat loss. Olga Voronova, our regular contributor, landscape designer and TV presenter, will tell you about what measures need to be taken for the blitz-warming of a summer home.

1. Decorative plaster

This material has long found widespread use. He not only decorates the facade of the house, but also insulates it and, if necessary, levels the walls. Today, decorative plaster is often used for painting. This allows you to choose any color. However, it should be borne in mind that finishing the facade with plaster is a rather laborious process.

There are several types of decorative plaster.

  • Mineral - the most budgetary option, however, this material is short-lived (service life - up to 10 years) and less plastic. But under such plaster walls can "breathe". It is not recommended to decorate buildings with it, which are located near busy highways and railways, as vibration and noise contribute to the formation of cracks.
  • Acrylic - more plastic, moisture resistant and durable (service life - up to 20 years) plaster, which does not allow air to pass through. Therefore, it is necessary to install additional ventilation. This material is ideal for walls insulated with expanded polystyrene or foam glass.
  • Silicate plaster. This material is more expensive than the previous ones, but at the same time it is breathable, does not collect dust, evenly lays on the surface and will last about 25 years.
  • Silicone plaster - has the same advantages as silicate, and on top of that it does not absorb chemicals.

Electric heating

The easiest way to organize heating in the country with your own hands is to use electricity. The undoubted advantage of heating with the help of electricity is that it can be arranged both with the help of complex heating systems, and with the help of household oil electric heaters or infrared panels.

Electric heating of a country house using complex systems allows you to programmatically adjust the degree and time of heating, which makes it possible not only to create the most comfortable environment, but also to save money. But the use of complex heating devices is impractical in a small dwelling.

Portable and portable electric heaters

Country houses are designed only for seasonal living, and the installation of a complex heating system will cost a significant amount. In this case, it is much more efficient to use portable electric heaters. The latter include oil batteries and infrared panels.

The principle of operation of these heaters is diametrically opposite: an oil heater heats the air around it, and an infrared panel heats objects (floor, walls, furniture), which infrared rays fall on. That is, it acts on the principle of sunlight, which allows it to demonstrate an efficiency of 92%.

But all portable heaters have a common advantage - they can be easily carried around the rooms, heating only the room that is needed at the moment, or taken away to heat the apartment. If the dwelling is not used all year round, in this case, the use of portable heaters will be very useful.

Electric boiler

The most profitable option for heating a country house is an electric boiler, which heats up and, with the help of a built-in pump, pumps a coolant (water or antifreeze) through the pipeline system.

Heat from radiators spreads throughout the house. This system has only one drawback - to implement such a scheme, you will have to take care of the installation of heating pipes, which will significantly increase the cost estimate for organizing heating of a country house. This option is suitable when the cottage is used for winter living, is a two-story building, or heating is needed for a long period and in several rooms.

Projects of country houses for 6 acres: photo, description and requirements

Modern summer cottages are intended not only for the banal receipt of vegetables and greens, but, obviously, for an active weekend in the fresh air. Therefore, hardly anyone today can be satisfied with an ordinary garden tool shed.

Therefore, it is possible to formulate the basic requirements for the construction of a house in the country in modern conditions:

  • its size must be sufficient to fit on them: a kitchen, a lounge and an open veranda or terrace
  • the house must be electrified
  • it will be nice if he is able to receive guests all year round
  • due to the meager area of the site, the country house cannot be large, but it must be spacious enough.

Self-built not expensive country houses: photo with a description

Many people prefer building country houses with their own hands (photos, projects, drawings can be found on the Internet). There are a lot of projects of country houses, the construction of which fits into a small budget, but we will fit them into three main groups:

  1. Structures made in the simplest way without electricity and heating, able to protect from rain and wind.
  2. Versatile summer cottages with a small area that can be visited at any time of the year.
  3. Two-storey houses that can pretend to be a full-fledged country house.

In a comfortable country house you can live with your family in the summer

The houses of the first group are most often not capital structures (projects and sketches of summer houses for summer cottages can be developed independently). They don't have a solid foundation and are made from regular planks or plywood. However, it is noteworthy that when using beautiful finishing materials, even they can look pretty decent, although not much money was spent on their construction.

An example of a small holiday home

The structures that we have classified in the second group are the most popular. The internal equipment of inexpensive cottages for summer cottages should correspond in terms of comfort to the amenities of a country house. Projects of country houses 5x6 m can provide for the presence of a kitchen-dining room, shower and toilet.

Usually these are permanent buildings with foundations and adequate thermal protection for using the heating system in the winter. By giving preference to a small house for a summer residence, you get the opportunity to place on the remaining acres, in addition to the beds, a miniature pond in a recreation area or a beautiful flower garden.

Country house project 6x6 m

With a large family, you will need to place a fairly spacious house on a small plot. This is achievable if you build it with an attic or second floor. On the first floor, you can make a kitchen and a lounge, and the second floor can be equipped with comfortable and cozy bedrooms. For more comfort, it would be nice to make a veranda or terrace. All these points should be reflected in the project of a small country house.

What materials are most often used for the construction of a country house

Traditional projects of country houses for 6 acres, photos of which were taken 15 - 20 years ago, assumed the use of mainly wood. This material was not as expensive then as it is today. Despite the significant cost, wood today remains a fairly popular material in summer cottage construction. After all, it has environmental friendliness and harmony with nature.

In regions with a developed woodworking industry, the construction of a structure from a bar or log is not very expensive. Photos of garden houses, sometimes with intricate shapes, will inspire you to create your own unique design.

Examples of projects of country houses

Various lightweight concrete blocks are today universally used in all types of construction. The dacha is no exception. They have little cost. A photo of country houses made of foam blocks demonstrates the neat geometric shape of such structures. It is quite convenient to erect walls from them and it does not require much time. With proper insulation, lightweight concrete block houses will be very warm in winter. Sandwich panels are also quite popular in the construction of houses at their summer cottage.

Country house on a high foundation

The choice of building material depends on its cost in the region, personal preferences, delivery terms to the site and project requirements. The type of foundation also plays an important role. It also depends on the material of the walls, as well as on the properties of the soil. Timber and frame houses are placed on columnar or screw foundations.

Country house sheathed with siding

Roofing material on country house do anyone. It is optimal to use metal tiles. At its acceptable cost, this material gives a chance to create a durable and reliable coating that is not afraid of any twists and turns.

The secret of a simple and cheap way to insulate a summer house with your own hands

I have already talked about this option for getting rid of drafts, but here, in the competition, I will write again, suddenly it will come in handy for someone who has not read it yet.

So the whole my secret of insulation is foamed polyethylene... This is such a sheet (roll) combined heat and sound insulation material. It happens with foil sides and without foil. It happens with an adhesive layer. And with this polyethylene, I sheathed all the walls-floor-ceiling from the inside, every room.

Polyethylene

So, for work on eliminating heat leaks in a hardware store, the following were purchased:

  • foamed polyethylene 5 mm - several rolls
  • furniture stapler + staples
  • Scotch
  • stationery knife.

The amount of polyethylene was calculated along the inner perimeter of the change house - along all walls, floor and ceiling.

Packaging

I cut the insulation into strips to the height (or length) of the walls and attached it with a stapler. Overlapping is easier and faster. Attached with the foil side inward. Although right outward, but how to live in bling bling?

After the polyethylene is attached to the walls, its seams must be glued with tape. This is important, otherwise it will blow directly from under the insulation.

After such a modification, the temperature in the room rises, after turning on the heater, within 15 minutes from 15 ° C to 24 ° C. The temperature in the room is kept confidently)) Polyethylene takes the temperature of the room, it is always pleasant and warm, blocks the escape of heat outside, does not let the draft through. Both the floor and the walls heat up very quickly.

After two seasons, I am very pleased with my insulation. And if you also do not have the opportunity and desire to insulate thoroughly, then my secret is for you!

If my secret turned out to be useful to you, ask questions (and I also accept praise)))
