Characteristics of aloe products

Taking up the phrase of Hippocrates, one of the greatest doctors of antiquity, who wanted to enhance the therapeutic properties and beneficial action of some plants with the saying "The doctor helps, but nature heals", we can see that, despite many centuries, the same thing can still be said today.

A large number of studies that have been focusing on aloe in recent years are underlining the important properties and beneficial action carried out by this particular plant on the human body.

Aloe, in fact, is one of the richest plants in active ingredients and healing substances, to the point that even the ancient peoples had understood its great potential: although they did not have the technological and scientific means that we can currently boast, they already relied on therapeutic properties of aloe, which was used for several purposes.

Without a doubt, from the point of view of use, the aloe plant richest in active ingredients is the Barbadensis Miller species, which is more commonly referred to as aloe vera.

In fact, aloe vera is characterized by containing a large number of substances: at the mineral level, there are iron, zinc, sodium and chromium, but also magnesium, manganese and copper.

Aloe vera is characterized by also including various active ingredients that are extremely useful substances for the human body, including vitamins, monosaccharides, polysaccharides and amino acids.

On the market we can find a disproportionate number of products that use both aloe vera and other aloe species, such as aloe arborescens, which is also extremely widespread, especially in the field of cosmetics.

As for aloe vera, the main products that we can find on the shelves of herbalists and pharmacies (lately the possibility of buying them online is also spreading considerably, thanks to the formation of virtual herbal shops) contain aloe juice or aloe gel.

In fact, a condensed juice is extracted from aloe, or rather from the leaves of this important plant, which is characterized by containing a large amount of anthraquinones, but a particular gel can also be obtained.

Aloe gel

As for external use, aloe vera gel is undoubtedly the most commercialized and widespread product on the market.

Aloe vera frost is characterized by being able to be used for different purposes: first of all, it is able to perform an important anti-inflammatory action, but also moisturizing, refreshing, soothing and healing.

The application of this particular gel is always recommended in all those cases in which you intend to protect the skin or for the treatment of very small burns, such as sunburn or sunburn, but it is also characterized by carrying out a fundamental soothing action against mosquito bites (extremely annoying due to the itching they cause, especially during the summer season) and various insects, but also dermatitis in general and is also quite effective against chickenpox pustules.

In particular, we can find aloe gel products on the market that also perform a protective action against the sun's rays: in these cases, we are talking about pre-sun and after-sun treatments.

The gel that is found, in fact, inside the fleshy leaves of aloe arborescens is characterized by containing a whole series of important active ingredients, which are extremely useful for the purification of the organism, as well as for the fight against infections, but also to increase the level of organic defenses and, finally, represent an excellent help with regard to therapies that refer to various degenerative diseases, such as tumors.

Aloe juice

Among the main products, as we said earlier, there is aloe juice, which can also be easily prepared at home, or you can choose to buy from the main herbalists and pharmacies in the city.

It is a product that can also be integrated with other substances: in many cases, a certain amount of blueberry is added, in such a way as to be able to use this compound for internal use in the treatment or prevention of diseases of different nature, which do not correspond however to gastric disorders, such as gastritis, ulcer or colitis.

I use aloe

In any case, it is important to underline that the aloe plant is one of the most important ones as regards phytotherapeutic medicine and also phytocosmetics.

In fact, phytotherapy exploits the anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antibiotic and regenerating properties of the immune system that characterize the plant and, especially the leaves, of aloe.

Phytocosmetics uses the aloe plant with the aim of producing beauty compounds for face and hair care.

Aloe vera is a useful aid when it comes to assigning slimming treatments and allows you to find the best physical shape due to the purifying effect that it is able to carry out on the entire body, also managing to perform a function of removing the waste and toxins.

Furthermore, we must not forget how numerous products prepared with aloe vera allow to properly nourish and strengthen the scalp, in such a way as to promote better and stronger hair growth.

Finally, aloe is proposed as a perfect remedy to deal with and combat the appearance of those annoying boils, but also acne and is also extremely effective in all those cases of hair loss.

Aloe creams

As we said earlier, we have the opportunity to find a whole series of skin products on the market, mainly represented by creams made with aloe vera.

Some aloe vera creams are characterized by having a large number of humectants and moisturizers inside and, in most cases, are prepared with the particularity of being used to soothe, hydrate and tone the skin.

In most cases, these are creams that are formulated in gels, enclosing the true essence (and, consequently, the active ingredients of aloe vera) of this stabilized plant: the preparation is also characterized by being absorbed with extreme speed from the skin, in such a way as to allow even a simpler penetration into the dermis, just as if the application were made directly using the leaves of the aloe vera plant.

In any case, these creams are the ideal solution to combat all those dry or flaky skin, as well as to overcome abrasions, burns, acne and chapping.

In addition, aloe creams are able to perform a particularly important beneficial action against the effects that often accompany ultrasound treatments and are also very effective with regard to external diseases of the skin, but also of the muscles and tendons.

In other cases, we can speak of creams that perform a specific moisturizing and humectant action. They are characterized by being particularly suitable and effective for all skin types that require extremely deep hydration, such as skins that have a slightly dry epidermal part.

The moisturizer with aloe is also considered as an excellent cream for the face, hands and body, especially due to the fact that it is able to penetrate inside the cellular level, in such a way as to perform a function of reduction of the aging process, which is undoubtedly made faster today by the excessive amount of pollution we breathe and by atmospheric agents.

In any case, the aloe moisturizer can, without a doubt, also be considered an excellent base for make-up: compared to aloe lotions, it is characterized by having a much denser preparation and to obtain very remarkable results for as regards the restoration of the natural moisture of the skin which, in this way, becomes extremely soft and soft, to the point that it can be considered almost “silky” once it is touched.

Aloe lotions

We talked about aloe cream, but there are also products represented by aloe-based lotions which, usually, contain an emulsion of oil and water based on aloe vera, so that, once applied to the skin, it can release heating agents that make it essential to help quickly remove tension and stress from muscles and arthritic joints.

The aloe vera lotion is a cream that has a completely balanced PH, being a lubricant, which can be usefully exploited when you intend to perform soothing and relaxing massages.

The formula that has been studied to develop such a product, allows the aloe vera compound to penetrate deeply, in such a way as to perform an excellent massage on the temples, which has proved to be particularly effective even in the case of sinusitis.

It is important to emphasize that on the market we can really find different types of products that exploit aloe vera, but a certain level of attention must always be paid to the label and, above all, to the prescriptions of our doctor.

Aloe products: Aloe cost

The cost of aloe products that can be found in herbal shops and pharmacies remains affordable, in practice, to most people, given that in most cases, the cost of creams and lotions is between a minimum of ten up to a maximum of fifty euros, in relation to the derivation of the product.

It is essential, in fact, especially when it comes to products that must be taken orally, to request a preventive consultation from your doctor, so that he can advise you about the best use of aloe or about a more effective treatment system. .

Aloe vera, how to grow it at home to always have juice and gel available

How to cultivate, reproduce and take care ofaloe vera? And how to use it starting from the leaves? A resistant plant, which does not need too much care, but with a thousand uses for both health and beauty.

L'Aloe vera is an ornamental and curative plant with succulent leaves from which a juice and a gel with therapeutic and cosmetic properties are obtained. Let's see how.

Characteristics of Aloe vera

L'Aloe vera(Aloe barbadensis) is a shrubby plant that belongs to the family of Aloaceae. Aloe is native to the hot and desert regions of Africa and is now grown for ornamental purposes and to obtain products for use in the cosmetics and health and wellness products market.

Aloe plants have fleshy leaves characterized by the presence of a thick cuticle and small thorns along the margin. The inflorescence axis is of considerable size and bears flowers gathered in clusters, hanging and yellow in color. From the flower develops the fruit, a capsule.

The aloe drug, that is the part of the plant with the highest content of active ingredients, is represented by the concentrated and dried juice obtained from the leaves and the gel. From the anatomical point of view, the aloe leaves they are made up of chlorophyll and amyliferous parenchyma tissue and cells containing mucilage. (Read also: Aloe vera: 10 excellent reasons to grow it in pots or in the garden)

The aloe juice it derives from all the internal tissues of the leaves and, once collected by incision of the leaves, is concentrated by boiling, thus obtaining dark masses. The juice is used to obtain the titrated dry extract, with laxative properties given by the presence of anthraquinones.

The aloe gel instead it derives only from the mucilage cells present in the innermost part of the leaf. Aloe gel is widely used in the cosmetic industry and it is attributed with healing properties for the skin.

Aloe plants have thick leaves and cherubs which are also a useful medicine. Plants tend to be a little dry and most of the problems are due to excess water or poor quality of the growing medium. Brown aloe vera plants can suffer from excess or lack of moisture, but other causes can be excess salt in the soil, fungal diseases, sunburn, chemical toxicity or nutrient deficiencies. Guess what it's a matter of trial and error.

Moisture, wilting and darkening of aloe vera

Water problems are expected to be the main cause of aloe vera problems. A withered brown aloe vera with soft spots on the leaves is likely to be watered excessively. A plant with wrinkled, discolored leaves may be too dry. The leaves are an excellent indicator of this plant's moisture needs. They should be large and bright green.

To remedy any water problems, replant the plant in well-draining soil that is at least half sandy, such as sand or pumice. Once the plant is out of the ground, check for rotten roots and remove them. Water only when the soil is dry to the touch by inserting a finger into the second joint. In winter, reduce the water by half.

Chemicals, salts and nutrition

If you fertilize your plant, the soil can have an excessive accumulation of salt, which can burn the roots and cause the aloe vera plants to brown. Wash the soil with plenty of water or replant the plant.

When an aloe turns brown, it can also be due to chemical exposure. Outdoor plants can be subject to the drift of herbicides from the wind. Internal implants can be sprayed with cleaning chemicals. The treatment of chemically damaged aloe wilting requires removing the leaves if there are few leaves and transplanting to prevent the chemicals in the soil from being transported into the plant's vascular system.

Aloe plants don't need a lot of food. Do not feed more than once a month with semi-diluted plant foods.

Light and cold

Most aloe varieties prefer warm temperatures. People exposed to drafts can develop damage to the leaves. Move the plants to a warmer place. Aloe prefers temperatures between 55 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit (13-27 C.).

These easy-to-grow plants also prefer an abundance of light, however, if placed in a southern location through a window that directs heat and light towards the plant, the leaves can actually be burned by the sun. Bright but indirect light is preferable. Sunburned plants naturally recover over time, but may lose some leaves in the process.

The wilting and darkening of aloe is usually a matter of cultural status or location. Just download the list and eliminate the possible causes until you find the right one. Aloe plants are very hardy and compassionate and should quickly regain their health.

Medicinal plants have always been allies of good cooking giving an unmistakable flavor to our dishes, this ancient knowledge has been handed down to us by our ancestors who used them in every preparation.

The Gavinell Botanical Garden, wanted to maintain the tradition of blends of aromatic and medicinal herbs prepared in ancient times by the grandfather of Paolo Prampolini, Gaetano, enriching them with the salt of the Salsomaggiore spa with a very particular composition, suitable for every dish, thanks to the antioxidant properties of the herbs. , with whole sea salt naturally rich in iodine, will help you to give flavor to your dishes by decreasing the amount of salt and seasonings, but not the taste.

Grandfather Gaetano
"My grandfather Gaetano was known and respected throughout the Bergamo area, where he lived as a countryside healer and farmer. He used his herbal knowledge not only to help people in difficulty, but also for pets that were precious for families. She knew the properties of herbs thoroughly and applied them with confidence. In turn, she had had a great teacher, her father's sister whom I called "great-grandmother". Great-grandmother Margì in turn had received this knowledge from her ancestors. "

Use aloe vera leaves

Give her leaves of Aloe vera both juice and aloe gel can be obtained. As we have seen previously, the aloe juice it is obtained from the cells of the entire leaf excluding the epidermis, while the aloe gel it is obtained from the mucilage cells present in the innermost part of the leaf.

THE main components of aloe leaves they are represented for about 30% by mucilages to which are added lipids, anthraquinones, polysaccharides, tannins, glycoproteins, saponins, vitamins, minerals and the cyclooxygenase enzyme. Anthraquinones are present only in aloe vera juice and not in the gel.

The anthraquinones are molecules that in the intestine act as laxatives thanks to their irritating action on the mucosa. The aloe juice it is one of the herbal remedies used for the treatment of constipation but it is important that it is taken at the right dosage and on the advice of a doctor, pharmacist or herbalist.

The aloe gel it does not contain anthraquinones and has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, immunostimulating, anesthetic and healing properties. It is mainly used for the care of the skin and mucous membranes, in particular in case of burns, sunburn, sunburn and wounds as well as to soothe itching in case of hives and insect bites and inflammation of the oral cavity.

The aloe gel can also be extracted from the leaves in the home. To obtain the aloe gel, simply remove the cuticle of the leaf and blend the internal tissue: the gel must be used immediately and for external use only. It is strongly not recommended to take the contents of aloe leaves orally due to the purgative effect given by the presence of anthraquinones, which cannot be separated from the aloe gel in a homemade way.

Where to find Aloe

Today Aloe is on sale in various places. From herbalists, to markets, to pharmacies. The problem is therefore not where to get Aloe Vera, but the quality of the product. There are some parameters that need to be considered when approaching this wonderful plant.

The first thing to consider is whether the product in front of us contains Aloe Vera juice or gel.

The major properties of the plant are in fact contained in plant gel, which is the innermost part of the leaf. Gel which, among other things, must be extracted with careful processing, so that parts of the peel do not end up in the middle of it. In fact, the peel contains aloin, which if consumed has a laxative effect. The gel must be pure to have maximum properties.

The second thing to check is how much gel is actually in the product. It is one thing to say that a drink contains Aloe Vera, the other is to say that a product is based on Aloe Vera. Often the name Aloe appears on the label, but when you look at the doses inside, it turns out that the percentage is quite low. As you can easily guess, the greater the quantity of Aloe gel, the greater the benefits.

Another thing to note is the type of Aloe that the product contains.

In nature there are more than 400 different types of Aloe, but those that are useful for their high nutritional properties are less than 5. The best of all is undoubtedly Aloe Vera Barbadensis, and it is the one that is really important to use in the preparation of products.

You should also know where this plant comes from, i.e. where the plantations are. In fact, Aloe needs very dry climates to thrive. And then you must know how the plant is processed. The leaves should be detached when the plant has reached 7 years of age, because that is when the gel reaches its maximum properties.

This is information that usually does not appear on the labels of products on the market. Just as it is not specified how the gel must be extracted, that is possibly by hand to ensure that there are no traces of aloin in the finished product.

Let's say, therefore, that if we want to see results by drinking Aloe Vera, or using products that contain it, it is very important to use reliable and certified products.

Saragolla durum wheat

Healthy eating: an investment in health!

Saragolla durum wheat (triticum turgidum) is a variety of native wheat. Historically, wheat from the Egyptian civilization was introduced by the Proto-Bulgarians in the central Italic region and already cultivated by our grandparents in the ancient province of Teramo between the 16th and 19th centuries.
Not having been modified in its characteristics, (like today's grains, originally obtained with the genetic laboratory method in the early 1970s), it is of low productivity because of very high straw with a slender development, heavy ears of large grains, therefore with easy enticement in late spring. This reason affects the harvest and, in the past, cultivation was abandoned.
Like ancient grains, it has superior organoleptic qualities and a lower gluten content.
Our wheat is grown without the aid of chemical fertilization with nitrates and herbicides.
Its agrarian rotation is inserted in a cultivation cycle with grass mixed with legumes, (which enriches the soil with nitrogen in a natural way) and offers the possibility of growing weed seeds. Some are then mowed for hay in late spring, clearing the ground for subsequent crops, and used in the small breeding of domestic animals which, in turn, supplies manure for fertilizing wheat, local corn, etc.
The resulting pasta is handcrafted (bronze drawn, not Teflon), dried at low temperature so as not to compromise its nutritional qualities and very digestible.

The main pasta shapes we produce are: spaghetti, linguine, tagliatelle, mezze sleeves, penne rigate, fusilli, strozzapreti and chioccioline.
